Serving at the altar, [the pope told the young people,] is a privileged way to draw closer to Jesus, which in turn “enables you to open yourselves to others, to journey together, to set demanding goals and to find the strength to achieve them.”   —Pope Francis, Aug 4, 2015
The purpose of this ministry is to help oneself and others participate fully in the mysteries of the Church by helping priests and deacons during Masses and other celebrations in the parish.  We meet 3-4 times a year at the beginning of a calendar year, before or after Mass, if needed. The meetings are usually held in Church.
You do need to be in 4th grade and up to join this ministry. And you must have knowledge and understanding of the Liturgy of the Church.
The time commitment involved in this ministry is about 1 hour, as available.  Occasional short meetings and reminders regarding how to do things may be required.
An ideal candidate would have a love of God and a deep respect for holy places.

Contact the parish office at 847.526.2400 if you are inspired to participate in the Altar Server Ministry.
